Manila By Night
Don’t let the old codgers fool you. Magic is everywhere. It’s in the thrum of the streets, the zeitgeist of humanity, the wonders of science, technology, and discovery. The old orders that cling to the legends of Atlantis, Babel, Lemuria, or whatever they call it these days would have you believe that humanity is sundered from magic, that we need to look to the past to rediscover it. They’re wrong. Magic is still all around us. Old hierarchies and dogma simply reinforce The Lie. Atlantis gave birth to The Lie. Democracy unveils Truth. Instead of looking to the forgotten past, we should focus on building a better future.
In the Manila Consilium:
The Free Council is restive, seeking to break the stranglehold that the Mysterium and Silver Ladder have over local power. In this, they share a common goal with the local Guardians, and the two might even have the ability to unsettle the local power structure, if not for the fact that the Free Council and the Guardians of the Veil loathe each other with a passion. While the Free Council sees the Adamantine Arrow as a relic of the Atlanteans, the Arrow’s principled neutrality and willingness to train others in self-defense has meant that the Free Council is perhaps a bit more sympathetic to the Arrows than in other Consilii.
